Shape Consulting was involved in the planning and delivery of the Making a Difference program for 27 senior management teams at Logan City Council. The program involved analysing Council’s existing culture, developing a tailored program to meet Council’s needs, and delivering diverse activities including executive coaching, performance improvement workshops, a corporate systems and processes review, and change management processes. As an example of the intensity of the program, over a six-month period Shape Consulting completed 150 group workshops and 110 individual coaching sessions. There were many positive, lasting outcomes of the Making a Difference program, including 92% of managers developing action plans to improve their leadership approach, and 80% of management teams adopting new employee performance and feedback strategies.
Shape Consulting supported Powerlink Queensland through a significant organisation restructure project. The overarching project involved effectively managing the transition of the organisational structure from 11 executives to 6 (as part of the MAP change program), and the subsequent restructure of multiple divisions. These projects included a comprehensive analysis of change impacts with an exceptionally smooth transition process (including a benefits realisation process) successfully attained. One specific division restructured included Queensland’s Operations and Field Services Division – a team of highly skilled technical staff operating in a unionised environment. As part of the project, Shape Consulting reviewed the division’s current operations, helped develop a new divisional structure, and guided the transition process. Thorough planning and risk management resulted in a smooth and embedded change.
Shape Consulting is contracted to plan and facilitate a four-year project to transition 5,000 Queensland Government staff to the $653 million 1 William Street executive building in Brisbane’s CBD. To aid in the facilitation of the transition, PQ required an experienced change advisor to provide transition management and communications services throughout project delivery. This includes the development of a comprehensive change plan, stakeholder plan, managing resistance plan and transition plan. The project also supports broader cultural change in the Queensland Public Service. To date, Shape Consulting has met or exceeded all agreed key performance indicators, and the transition process is on track to proceed as planned in 2016. Shape has been commended highly for our approach to a complex engagement project, development of an effective ‘at an arm’s length’ change management approach, our ability to work effectively to a fixed budget, and for providing a team which is “exceptional at what they do.”
Shape Consulting was engaged by QR to undertake a Transformation Readiness process. Working with the board and executive, Shape Consulting undertook a detailed analysis of the organisation’s readiness to undertake a major transformation (the subsequent separation of QR into QR National and Queensland Rail). This process included detailed interviews across the business, a cultural assessment (including extrapolation of the results) and a detailed report highlighting the key aspects for transformation readiness (with a focus on leadership and safety).
